First LYA Sides Arrive

Postcards from David Wolanski and Kris McNeil. LYA 2017

Kat Sloma’s Liberate  Your Art swap is still a week away. But look at the awesome side swaps that have come my way!

The trees are both from David Wolanski. The top photo is a Limited Edition Postcard Series. “Black and White Meditations #6 , 7 of 25” Taken in the Mississippi Delta with His Holga Film Camera. Dreamy don’t you think!?

The tree on the bottom is at Windsor Ruins. David wrote that he sends cards out at random intervals, just because he can. So this is an extra, extra card! Thank you David for adding me to your list! I have a fondness for trees. This one reminds me of a tree I slid down at Girl Scout camp. David teased that he would learn how to spell my name. No Worries. There are about five ways of spelling it, and mine makes the least sense. LOL. Here’s a little personal (that means I made up) grammar rule: “I before e except after c and sh”.

The wonderfully historic, and slightly scary, building is in Old Town Square in Prague. I believe it is the Týn Church. Kris McNeil has a larger version on her site. So beautiful! And check out her banner shot – WOW!

I just love learning about historic places and buildings. And I have to admit I took longer than usual writing this post. Thank you Kris and David for introducing these treasures to me! I love each of these cards!

Sunset in Prescott Valley

Tonight the sunset was spectacular. Looking to the east, there was just a mellow pinkish peach that warmed Mingus and then the sky. But out back was this…

Oh my gosh, how do you do anything but stare out the window. Gorgeous. Will have to check into the post card exchange, haven’t heard of it, but sounds great.

Thanks for the kind words! I love to do photos of trees or in foggy conditions, so trees in the fog = winning! I love the LYA process, and look forward to it each year!

      Most welcome Dave 😉
Oh yeah, I am right there with you on the tree + fog equation! The first night we arrived in San Diego, was a foggy one. Magical!! It has been a love of mine ever since 🙂 (Moved from Colorado when I was about ten or so.)
LYA was the first place I shared my art with anyone, so it holds a special place with me. So glad I found it through a friend. 🙂

WOW! What a stupendous sunset – I expect to see that in a painting soon Sheila as yellow is one of your favourite colours. You got some super pieces in your side swap. As a newcomer to the LYA postcard swap I have been wondering how the side swaps work and would appreciate your info on it – thanks.

Oh my, Not sure I can pull a painted sunset off… but I am itching to try THAT one! LOL

Loved your envelope BTW Val! Side swaps are super easy. Some people send them out while the swap is going on. Kat does several “batch” mailings. This makes the swap last longer. We don’t get all our cards at the same time.
I don’t send my side swaps out until after I receive Kat’s card. Or at least the week she sends them out. That way, it stretches the swap an extra week or so. Also, it allows me to find out who received my official swap cards, without getting confused. (Once the swap begins, everyone starts posting tin the group, and it gets hectic. LOL)
All you do is post in the Facebook group that you would like to do some side swaps. Show your cards, and let the group know you have extras. If you only have a few, you can let people know that too. Or you can comment on someone’s post, let them know you would like to do a side swap with them. Easy peasy. And you can decide when you want to send them out.

Hope I answered it for you, if not, let me know 🙂

Aww, thank you kindly Laurie 🙂 I felt the same, gift from God. I spent some time looking for a Bible verse, but none I found seemed the right one. It was late, and I am sure my head was starting to fade. LOL. Thanks for visiting the site 🙂 So glad you think they look good. Happy arting bold one 🙂

Thanks for sharing the side swaps and letting us participate vicariously in LYA, Sheila.

And WHAT A SPECTACULAR SUNSET. Such a gift to see it, even if only in a photo on a computer screen 🙂
